GRAY — Maria Valente scored the 1,000th point of her career Thursday night while leading GrayNew Gloucester to a 60-36 victory against Falmouth in a Western Maine Conference schoolgirl basketball game.

Valente, a senior forward who finished with 19 points, topped 1,000 points on a 3-pointer to start the fourth quarter. Grace Kariotis added 18 points for the Patriots (14-1), who led 31-20 at halftime.

Ally Hickey led Falmouth (9-6) with 13 points.

WAYNFLETE 45, KENTS HILL 9: Helen Gray-Bauer scored 11 points and Annika Brooks added 10 for the Flyers (9-5) against the Huskies (2-9) at Portland.

Lydia Giguere chipped in nine points for Waynflete.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 54, BUCKFIELD 13: Abby Dubois scored 17 points for the Seagulls (11-3), who opened the game with a 19-2 run and cruised past the Bucks (5-9) at Old Orchard Beach.

Brianna Plante added 13 points, Haley Plante finished with 12 points and five assists, and Mackenzie Rague chipped in four points, six rebounds and four assists for Old Orchard.

GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 54, NORTH HAVEN 25: Clarissa Jones had 10 of her 14 points in the second quarter as Greater Portland Christian (4-9) pulled away from the Hawks (1-12) at North Haven.

Jones also had 12 rebounds and Erin Robinson added 12 points for the Lions.

Adrianna Ames led North Haven with nine points.

MCAULEY 69, MARSHWOOD 56: Jessica Willerson scored 23 points for the Lions (15-1), who scored the final nine points of the first half and held off the Hawks (8-8) at South Berwick.

Ayla Tarte added 13 points, including three 3-pointers, and Olivia Dalphonse scored 10 for the Lions. Kat Locke led Marshwood with 19 points and five rebounds.

The Hawks trailed 21-10 at the end of the first quarter but responded with a 9-2 run at the start of the second.

McAuley then regained control of the game with a 9-0 run.

TRAIP ACADEMY 40, SACOPEE VALLEY 29: Marina Casey scored six of her game-high 15 points in the third quarter as the Rangers (5-10) pulled away from the Hawks (8-6) at South Hiram.

Cassidy Delano and Codi Smith each added eight points for Traip Academy, which outscored Sacopee 14-8 in the third quarter to extend its lead to 33-19.

Annette Humphrey and Helen Ruhlin led the Hawks with seven points apiece.

WELLS 45, KENNEBUNK 32: Nathalie Thurber scored 21 points to help the Warriors (4-11) down the Rams (2-13) at Kennebunk.

ST. DOMINIC 43, WISCASSET 38: Faith Grady scored 22 points, and Allie Veinote made three 3-pointers and finished with 12 points for the Saints (5-10), who closed with an 11-6 run to beat the Wolverines (4-12) at Auburn.

Kayla Gordon scored nine points to lead Wiscasset, which scored the first seven points and led 11-10 after the first quarter.

MT BLUE 61, EDWARD LITTLE 45: The Cougars (10-5) shot 30 of 35 from the free-throw line and controlled the game throughout, defeating the Red Eddies (12-4) at Farmington.

Caitlin Kane led Mt. Blue with 22 points, six boards and three steals, Addie Brinkman added 12 points and four blocks, and Eryn Doiron tossed in 10 points with six assists and four boards.

Brooke Reynolds had 21 points for Edward Little.

HOCKEY

FALMOUTH 5, CHEVERUS 1: Camden Carrier scored three goals, and Evie Clement and Marcy Kittredge each had two assists to lead Falmouth (13-4) over the Stags (5-12) at Portland.

Sarah Hutcheon and Martina St. Angelo also scored for Falmouth, which led 2-0 at the end of the first period and added two goals in the second.

Cheverus cut the deficit to 2-1 when Leanna Farr scored from Julia Haskell and Jill Hannigan 6:34 into the second.
