A Domino’s Pizza delivery driver was injured Friday night when his Chevy Trailblazer struck and severed a utility pole on Route 113 in Standish.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s office said Jason Merrifield, 26, of Standish suffered head and facial injuries when he lost control of the vehicle on the snow-covered road about 10:40 p.m. He was not wearing a seat belt but the vehicle’s airbags were deployed, police said.

Route 113 was reduced to one lane for about four hours while Central Maine Power workers replaced the pole.

Police said Merrifield was operating his vehicle at a speed greater than road conditions warranted.

He was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was no longer listed as a patient at the hospital on Saturday.
