LEWISTON — Mike Boornazian made a layup and three foul shots down the stretch, and Billy Selmon scored the go-ahead basket as the Bates men’s basketball team scored the final seven points of the game and beat Hamilton 73-71 in a New England Small College Athletic Conference game Saturday.

The Colonials took a 71-66 lead on Joe Pucci’s basket with 1:36 to play. Boornazian converted a three-point play with 1:19 left and made 1 of 2 foul shots with 52 seconds left to pull Bates (17-4, 6-3 NESCAC) within 71-70. Selmon scored the go-ahead basket with 26 seconds left. Boornazian added a final free throw before Hamilton (13-8, 1-7) missed a 3-point attempt with three seconds left. Boornazian finished with 21 points.

ST. JOSEPH’S 75, NORWICH 56: Craig Luschenat scored 14 of his game-high 19 points in the first half as the Monks (10-9, 8-5) raced out to a 39-20 halftime lead and held off the Cadets (7-13, 4-10) in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference game at Northfield, Vermont.

Steve Simonds and Zach Blodgett added 18 points apiece for the Monks.

SOUTHERN MAINE CC 74, UM-MACHIAS 59: Atencio Martin scored 16 points and Tyheem Simon added 15 to lead the Seawolves (19-2, 13-0) to a Yankee Small College Conference win over the Clippers (13-10, 8-4) at Machias.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 88, SALVE REGINA 78: Drew Coveney and Devin Thompson scored 22 points apiece to lead the Nor’easters (6-15, 4-10) as they rallied from an 18-point first-half deficit in a Commonwealth Coast Conference win over the Seahawks (5-16, 2-12) at Newport, Rhode Island.

UMASS-DARTMOUTH 95, SOUTHERN MAINE 68: Jordan Rezendes scored 34 points to lift the Corsairs (12-9, 8-2) to a Little East Conference victory over the Huskies (4-17, 1-9) in Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

Cole Libby led the Huskies with 19 points.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

SOUTHERN MAINE 64, UMASS-DARTMOUTH 60: Megan Pelletier made a layup with 1:01 left in the game to lift the Huskies (10-11, 6-4) to a Little East win over the Corsairs (16-5, 8-2) at Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

Ella Ramonas led the Huskies with 17 points. Pelletier finished with 13 points and six rebounds.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 58, SALVE REGINA 43: Kelly Coleman scored 11 of her game-high 17 points in the second half to help the Nor’easters (13-1, 17-4) beat the Seahawks (11-10, 8-6) in a Commonwealth Coast Conference game at Newport, Rhode Island.

Alicia Brown added 14 points, nine rebounds and five blocked shots for the Nor’easters.

NORWICH 62, ST. JOSEPH’S 51: Aliah Curry scored 19 points to lead the Cadets (17-4, 5-3) past the Monks (14-6, 6-2) in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference game at Northfield, Vermont.

Morgan Cahill had 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Monks.

HAMILTON 60, BATES 54: Kate Bushell gave the Continentals (11-10, 2-6) the lead for good on a shot in the paint with 1:46 left as they scored the final seven points to rally past the Bobcats (9-12, 0-8) in a NESCAC game at Clinton, New York.

Nina Davenport scored 21 points, and Allie Coppola added nine points, 14 rebounds and seven assists for the Bobcats.

SOUTHERN MAINE CC 79, UM-MACHIAS 28: Kendra Kagiliery scored 16 points and the Seawolves (16-7, 10-3) beat the Clippers (2-19, 2-10) in a Yankee Small College Conference game at Machias.

Katherine Cyr added 13 points, and Jaimi Poland had 12 points and seven rebounds for SMCC.

MEN’S HOCKEY

COLBY 2, HAMILTON 2: Mario Benicky scored both goals for the Mules (5-12-3, 2-9-3 NESCAC), but Hamilton’s (7-8-5, 5-6-3) Neil Conway scored the lone goal of the third period and the two teams settled for a tie in Waterville.

Sam Parker made 24 saves for Colby.

BOWDOIN 4, AMHERST 3: Danny Palumbo scored the go-ahead goal on a power play with eight seconds left in the second period as the Polar Bears (12-5-3, 6-5-3 NESCAC) beat the Lord Jeffs (14-4-2, 10-4) in Brunswick.

John McGinnis, John-Alexander Kourkoulis and Connor Quinn also scored for Bowdoin.

UMASS-BOSTON 7, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 3: Jared Melman, Nick Wirth and Blaise Healy each scored a goal for the Nor’easters (8-12-2, 6-8-2) in a loss to the Beacons (19-3-1, 14-2) in an ECAC East game at Biddeford.

BABSON 2, SOUTHERN MAINE 0: Bill Seligman opened the scoring 11:17 into the second period and Tim Searles added a goal six minutes later to lead the Beavers (16-4-3, 11-3-2) past the Huskies (5-17, 2-13) in an ECAC East game at Gorham.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

VERMONT 2, MAINE 1: Amanda Pelkey scored 3:45 into overtime to lift the Catamounts (13-16-1, 4-13) to a Hockey East win over the Black Bears (10-14-3, 9-7-1) at Orono. Victoria Hummel scored for the Black Bears.

NICHOLS 4, SOUTHERN MAINE 3: Talia Hohmann and Grace Murphy each scored in the final 1:40 of regulation as the Bison (6-13, 3-8 ECAC East) beat the Huskies (7-12-1, 5-6-1) in Harrisville, Rhode Island.

Julia Pearl had two goals and Lynn Kozlowski one for USM.

ST. ANSELM 4, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 1: Tiffany Herron scored the go-ahead goal in third period as the Hawks (14-4-2, 10-1-2) beat the Nor’easters (4-12-5, 1-9-3) in an ECAC East game at Manchester, New Hampshire.

Emily Corrales scored for UNE and Sydney Helmbrecht had 50 saves.

TRINITY 2, BOWDOIN 0: Cheeky Herr and Lucy Robinson each scored for the Bantams (12-6-1, 5-6-1) in a NESCAC win over the Polar Bears (9-7-4, 5-5-2) at Hartford, Connecticut.
