A water main break on Woodford Street in Portland forced the city to close a section of the street between Grace and Arlington streets for several hours Wednesday night.

Michelle Clements, spokeswoman for the Portland Water District, said the break was reported around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. Clements said the repairs are expected to be completed by 1 a.m. Thursday, well before the start of the morning commute.

The section under repair is east of Forest Avenue, close to Baxter Boulevard and the Back Cove Trail
