SOUTH PORTLAND — Maddie Hasson scored 10 points in the fourth quarter Wednesday night as fifth-seeded South Portland pulled away for a 52-45 victory against 12th-seeded Westbrook in a Western Class A girls’ basketball prelim at Beal Gym.

The Red Riots (14-5) used a 15-8 run in the fourth quarter after a 37-37 tie through three.

Abby Cavallaro opened the final quarter with a 3-pointer to give South Portland the lead for good, and Hasson drove for all but two of the Riots’ points the rest of the way.

Cavallaro finished with 19 points. Hasson added 15 and Holly Black 10 for South Portland.

Alisha Aube scored 16 for the Blue Blazes (7-12).

CAPE ELIZABETH 34, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 26: Maddie Bowe scored four of her 10 points in the fourth period as ninth-seeded Cape Elizabeth (10-9) downed the eighth-seeded Raiders (9-10) in a Western Class B prelim at Fryeburg.

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 58, RANGELEY 54: Jake Malcom had 18 points and 13 rebounds, D.J. Nicholas added 10 points and eight steals, and the ninth-seeded Panthers (8-11) held off a fourth-quarter charge by the eighth-seeded Lakers (6-12) in a Western Class D prelim at Rangeley.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 68, MONMOUTH ACADEMY 55: Zach Hirst drained four of the six third-quarter 3-pointers for the seventh-seeded Seagulls (12-7), who widened a one-point halftime advantage to 47-37 against 10th-seeded Monmouth Academy (9-10) in a Western Class C prelim at Old Orchard Beach.

HALL-DALE 59, TRAIP ACADEMY 44: Brian Allen scored 16 points, and the sixth-seeded Bulldogs (13-6) used a 9-0 run early in the fourth quarter to pull out of a 38-38 tie with the 11th-seeded Rangers (8-10) in a Western Class C prelim at Farmingdale.
