AHL: The Arizona Coyotes recalled defenseman Brandon Gormley and forward Jordan Martinook from the Portland Pirates, while assigning defenseman Chris Summers to Portland.

Gormley, who has two goals and an assist in 15 games with the Coyotes this season, has three goals and four assists for Portland. Martinook, who has appeared in two games for Arizona, has 11 goals and 17 assists in 44 games for the Pirates.

Summers has three assists in 17 games with Arizona.

TENNIS

WORLD TENNIS TOURNAMENT: Top-seeded Andy Murray advanced to the quarterfinals at Rotterdam with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Vasek Pospisil of Canada.

 Defending champion Tomas Berdych also progressed, hitting 10 aces in a 6-0, 3-6, 6-3 win over Andreas Seppi.

DIAMOND GAMES: Top-seeded Eugenie Bouchard of Canada and second-seeded Angelique Kerber of Germany both lost in the second round at Antwerp, Belgium. Bouchard lost to Mona Barthel while Kerber fell to Francesca Schiavone.

THAILAND OPEN: Two-time champion Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia beat Zheng Saisai of China 7-6 (5) 6-2 to reach the quarterfinals at Pattaya, City, Thailand.

SOCCER

FIFA: In the monthly FIFA rankings, Germany remained No. 1, followed by Argentina, Colombia, Belgium, the Netherlands, Brazil and Portugal.

The United States dropped four places to 31st.

POLE VAULT: Yelena Isinbayeva, 32, wants one more Olympic gold medal to crown her pole vault career, adding she was “not happy” with her bronze medal in the 2012 Games.

The world-record holder has not competed since winning her third world title in Moscow in 2013, taking time out to have her first child.
