At least four dogs died when a fire destroyed a home in Hiram, fire officials told WCSH-TV.
Fire Chief James Siracuse told the station that the fire at 200 Duringtown Road was reported just after 9 p.m. Friday. He said no one from the family of seven that lived at the home was in the house at the time, and there were no injuries. But the family lost at least four dogs, possibly including one that had just had a litter.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
