A repairman who fell through a skylight on the roof of the Auburn Mall Wednesday remained in critical condition Thursday.

George Beam, 43, of Biddeford, is being treated at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston for head injuries.

Beam was walking toward a heating, ventilation and cooling unit that he was going to service on the roof of the mall Wednesday when he fell 30 to 40 feet through the skylight to the tiled center court part of the mall. Officials said the skylight might have been covered with snow.

Beam works for Atlantic Comfort Systems of Biddeford.

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified.
