The Maine Media Workshops + College Gallery is featuring a new exhibition of photography by Jacob Hessler.

The exhibit, “Off Season,” runs through April 4 at the gallery at 18 Central St. in Rockport.

Hessler’s photos capture landscapes that portray a muted energy in places like coastal Maine, when many people have packed up in search of warmer climates. In his photographs, Hessler captures a mysterious and quiet beauty, haunted by the shadows and remnants of previous vigor. The images reflect how life carries on, with or without us.

Currently based in Camden, Hessler graduated from the Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, California in 2007. He then worked with celebrity photographer Jill Greenberg on projects including work for New York Magazine and Wired.

An artist talk and reception will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the gallery. For more information, go to www.mainemedia.edu.
