A Lebanon man was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Portland to 2½ years in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Lawrence Young, 54, was prohibited from possessing a firearm because of prior felony convictions when he went turkey hunting last May 1 in Acton using a 16-gauge shotgun, according to court records.

Young pleaded guilty to the charge before Judge D. Brock Hornby last Sept. 30.

The judge also sentenced Young to serve three years of supervised release following completion of his federal prison term.

Young had been convicted of illegally possessing a firearm in 2013 and of violating conditions of bail in 2011.
