Jack Simonds of Falmouth was named a finalist for the state’s Mr. Basketball Award while Ashley Storey of Greely and Victoria Lux of Thornton Academy are finalists for Miss Basketball.

Simonds is joined by Kyle Bouchard of Houlton and Nick Mayo of Messalonskee as Mr. Basketball finalists. Hannah Graham of Presque Isle is the other finalist for Miss Basketball.

The winners will be announced March 13 at the Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star Awards Banquet at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

Simonds, named the most valuable player in the Western Class A tournament, averaged 22.5 points and 11.1 rebounds per game.
He scored 42 points against South Portland in the tournament semifinals.

Mayo averaged 24.2 points a game.

Storey and Lux, both centers, won their regional tournament MVP awards – Storey in Class B and Lux in Class A.

Storey averaged 20.0 points, 12.0 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game. Lux averaged 10.1 points, 8.1 rebounds and 3.0 blocks a game.

Graham, a 5-foot-10 point guard, averaged 16.8 points, 4.1 assists and 2.0 steals. She made 45 of 96 3-pointers.

Storey and Graham will square off Friday night in the Class B state championship game at the Cross Insurance Arena.

Lux has helped Thornton Academy to its first girls’ state final. The Golden Trojans will meet Lawrence High of Fairfield for the title on Saturday afternoon at the Augusta Civic Center.
