A 23-year-old Scarborough man faces charges of felony theft, burglary and possession of heroin after his arrest in connection with the burglary of a commercial building on Riverside Street.

Police arrested Shane A. Cook for a break-in that occurred Feb. 19 or Feb. 20, in which a laptop computer and several tools, including a $3,000 air wrench, were stolen, police said. The total value of the stolen merchandise was about $9,000, police said.

Detectives recovered all the stolen property from a Portland pawn shop and identified Cook as a suspect, police said.

Portland police working with Westbrook officers arrested Cook when he arrived at work in Westbrook.

When he was taken to Cumberland County Jail in Portland he was found to have a small amount of heroin, police said.

Cook is being held on $25,000 at Cumberland County Jail pending arraignment.
