Jack Simonds, Falmouth basketball: Simonds, a senior, had a big Western Class A tournament, averaging 28.3 points in three games while leading the Yachtsmen to the regional final. He tied a tournament record with 42 points in the semifinals, and won the Vinall Trophy as the top player/sportsman in the tournament. He will play basketball next season at Bowdoin.

Honorable mention

Jake Perron, Falmouth swimming: Perron was named performer of the meet at the Class A swimming and diving state championships. Perron won both the 200- and 500-yard freestyle. He was timed in 1:41.32 in the 200, and won the 500 by eight seconds in 4:38.71.

Ethan Murphy, Cape Elizabeth basketball: Murphy won the Pierre Harnois Award as the Western Class B tournament’s top player/sportsman after he scored 20 points to lead his team to a 51-46 win over Lake Region for the regional title.

Greg Violette, Westbrook swimming: Violette won the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly at the Class A state meet, joining Perron as the meet’s only individual double winners.

Girls

Abby Condon, Yarmouth skiing: Condon, a sophomore, placed eighth in the giant slalom, 13th in freestyle, 18th in slalom and 20th in classical to win the Class B skimeister award over a field of 10 competitors and help the Clippers win the overall state championship for the ninth year in a row.

Honorable mention

Kaelyn Woods, Gray-New Gloucester skiing: Woods swept both Nordic events at the Class B state meet, winning the 5K classical race by more than a minute and a half and the freestyle by more than 30 seconds.

Marshall Lowery, Kennebunk swimming: Lowery won two events at the Class A state meet, including a record in the 100-yard backstroke of 57.12, which was the only record in the meet. She also won the 200 individual medley.

Ashley Storey, Greely basketball: Storey was named the Western Class B tournament’s outstanding player/sportsperson after she led the Rangers to the regional title. Storey had 14 points, 13 rebounds and four blocked shots in a 53-28 win over Cape Elizabeth
