Two water mains broke in Portland on Friday, including one that forced the Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles to close its office at 125 Presumpscot St.

Exams or hearings scheduled for Friday will be rescheduled, the bureau said.

The main broke Friday morning and was fixed by 2 p.m., according to the Portland Water District.

Other motor vehicle services were available at the bureau’s office in Scarborough at 200 Expedition Drive, Suite G. Some motor vehicle services also may be conducted online here.

Also closed for the day was the Presumpscot Elementary School, located next door.

The second break occurred on Mitton Street, in a residential area off outer Congress Street. The water district said it expects to have the break fixed by 10 p.m. Friday.
