Portland Veterans Acupuncture Clinic, a nonprofit organization, offers free acupuncture for veterans and their families. The clinic is held from 6 to 8 p.m. every Tuesday at the meeting room of the Congregation Shaarey Tphiloh, 76 Noyes St., Portland. It is staffed by acupuncturists who volunteer their services. Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice has partnered with the national We Honor Veterans organization to expand veterans services in the community, including the Veteran-to-Veteran Volunteer Program. Volunteers for the program must be military veterans and be willing to support military patients at the end of their lives and be able to commit to at least two hours of visiting weekly.

Volunteers receive 20 hours of hospice training and two hours of veteran-to-veteran training. Interested veterans should contact the volunteer office at 777-7740 ext. 1280. To view upcoming training classes, go online to www.ahch.org/news-events/calendar.
