Re: “Escalating tensions leave a Maine town in turmoil” (March 3):

How sad that North Yarmouth selectmen have taken issue with the volunteer emergency medical technicians and firefighters using the station to wash their cars.

These volunteers put their lives on the line many times when they respond to a call. Beyond that, the emotional toll can be great with what they may witness. They do this job out of passion, pride and commitment to their community.

So, North Yarmouth, what would you do if these dedicated volunteers should all walk away?

I suggest a show of gratitude and thanks and possibly a lifetime of free car washes.
