An Edgecomb woman was arrested Monday, charged with furnishing brownies laced with marijuana to her 13-year-old daughter.

Lt. Michael Murphy of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said detectives charged Jennifer Becker, 49, of Old County Road with furnishing marijuana and endangering the welfare of a child. Becker was taken to the Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset and later released on unsecured bail.

Murphy said Becker was arrested after an investigation into a complaint through the Maine Department of Health and Human Services hotline that she provided her daughter with brownies containing marijuana. Arrest warrants were issued for Becker after a consultation with the District Attorney’s Office.

Becker is scheduled to appear in court next month. In the meantime, she is prohibited from having contact with her daughter. Murphy said the girl is staying with her father, Becker’s ex-husband.
