LEWISTON — A Lewiston woman is in the hospital and her ex-boyfriend is under arrest for allegedly stabbing her in a parking lot of an apartment building.

Police say 29-year-old Joshua Blackman stabbed the victim and pierced her lung at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. She is expected to survive.

Witnesses say the assailant fled into a building, which police surrounded before taking Blackman into custody. A knife was also recovered.

The Sun Journal reports that Blackman was led screaming and thrashing to a cruiser. He was charged with elevated aggravated assault, domestic assault and criminal threatening.

Police said Blackman and the woman were once romantically involved.

Blackman is in jail and it’s unclear if he has hired a lawyer.
