How the Seasons Change, 9 a.m. April 4, Bangor

The Bangor Land Trust is joining The National Phenology Network and Signs of the Seasons to promote a citizen science project studying how the seasons change. Join the training from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on April 4 in the Bangor Land Trust office at 8 Harlow St. in Bangor. Signs of the Seasons trains volunteers to observe and record phenology, which is the timing of seasonal changes in plants and animals. Participants will gain practical experience for observing and recording plant and animal life cycles in their own backyard, schoolyard or other community location. Additionally, participants will learn how their observations become valuable data when added to Nature’s Notebook, the national online database hosted by the USA National Phenology Network. No cost. Porter Preserve Hike, 10 a.m. April 7, Boothbay

The Boothbay Region Land Trust hosts a nature hike at Porter Preserve. The hike is moderately paced and 2 miles in length. Free and open to the public. Meet at the trailhead parking lot on Kimballtown Road, Barter’s Island. To learn more, write thall@bbrlt.org or call 633-4818.
