An Augusta man is facing multiple charges, including robbery and trafficking in heroin, after a traffic stop Wednesday morning.

Corey Dionne, 25, was charged with robbery, aggravated assault, aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs and criminal forfeiture. Dionne also was issued a warrant out of Lincoln County charging him with failure to pay fines.

Dionne was being held Wednesday at the Kennebec County jail in lieu of $100,050 cash.

Augusta Police Lt. Christopher Massey said Dionne was carrying about 40 grams of heroin, which led to the aggravated trafficking charge. Massey said 40 grams of bulk heroin is about the size of a golf ball and has a street value of about $12,000.

Dionne was arrested around 9 a.m. during a traffic stop on Stone Street. Sgt. Danny Boivin stopped the car after recognizing the driver as Dionne, whom Boivin knew was wanted on the Lincoln County warrant.

Augusta police had been looking for Dionne in connection with an aggravated assault and robbery that occurred May 25. Massey said a 27-year-old West Gardiner man was hit several times with a blunt object. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment, Massey said. He said detectives had recently identified Dionne as a suspect in that attack.
