BIDDEFORD — Nick Parent scored the winning goal at 2:33 of the second overtime to give Wentworth an 11-10 men’s lacrosse victory over the University of New England on Wednesday.

David Rubenstein scored an unassisted goal with 4:17 remaining in regulation to tie the contest for UNE (4-4, 0-1 Commonwealth Coast Conference) and send the game to overtime. The Nor’easters trailed 10-5 late in the third quarter and scored the final five goals of regulation.

Sam Cloutier led the offense for UNE with four goals on 10 shots, and Rubenstein, Dan Auger and Andrew Curro each finished with a pair of goals.

John Dusel and David Pearson both saw time in net for the Nor’easters, combining for 15 saves.

Adam Dufault stopped 14 shots in the win for Wentworth (5-2, 1-1).

ST. JOSEPH’S 7, HUSSON 1: Jake O’Brien scored four goals as the Monks (5-2) defeated the Eagles (2-3) in a nonconference game at Portland.

Zack Glazier scored for Husson.

BATES 17, KEENE STATE 11: Jack Allard led the way with a career-high seven goals and added a pair of assists as the Bobcats (4-3) defeated the Owls (3-4) in a nonconference game in Keene, New Hampshire.

Bates jumped to a 9-3 halftime lead.

Andrew Melvin had a goal and six assists for Bates, and Jack Strain had three goals and an assist.

Rob Hart was the leading scorer for Keene State with three goals and an assist.

SOUTHERN MAINE 18, UMAINE-FARMINGTON 1: Eleven players had points as the Huskies (3-1) handled the Beavers (0-6) in a nonconference game at Gorham.

Austin Watts and Seth Wing recorded hat tricks, and Nate DelGiudice had five points (2-3) for Southern Maine.

Nathan Chase scored for the Beavers.

John Bossi and Zach Bessette split time in net for the Huskies, combining for four saves.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

TUFTS 17, BATES 9: Caroline Ross had four goals and an assist as the Jumbos (6-2, 2-2 NESCAC) handled the Bobcats (5-5, 1-4) at Lewiston.

Tufts scored eight unanswered goals in a span of 15 minutes to take control and build an 11-3 halftime lead.

Ashton Chryssicas and Melanie Mait each scored a pair of goals for Bates, and Alex Briody, Sydney Cowles and Joanie Oates each had a goal and an assist.

Hannah Jeffrey took the loss for the Bobcats, making nine saves; Rachel Gallimore made six stops for Tufts.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 22, WENTWORTH 5: The Nor’easters (3-5, 1-0 Commonwealth Coast Conference) scored the first six goals to roll past the Leopards (2-2, 0-2) at Biddeford.

Gina Newsome led the offense with three goals and three assists, Rachel Schwaner had three goals and an assist, and Brooke Kelleher also scored three goals.

BASEBALL

Southern Maine 4, Endicott 2: Nick Bowie hit a two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning as the Huskies (8-3) topped the Gulls (4-6) at Beverly, Massachusetts.

Southern Maine jumped to a quick lead on Anthony Capuano’s RBI single in the top of the first. Endicott countered with a two-run home run by Harry Oringer in the bottom of the first.

A fielder’s choice by Bowie in the top of the seventh inning scored Jake Welch to tie the game at 2.

Bowie went 2 for 4 with three RBI and a run scored, and Sam Dexter was 2 for 5.

Andrew Richards picked up the win in relief, going 1-2/3 scoreless, allowing a single hit.
