Two more outdoor concerts at Portland venues were announced Monday, bringing the total number of outdoor shows scheduled for the city this summer to 16.

Until this year, Portland had never seen more than three or four outdoor concerts by major national acts in one summer.

On Monday, managers of the State Theatre announced that rock group Primus will perform at the new Thompson’s Point concert site in Portland on July 27. Dinosaur Jr. will open. Tickets are $39.50 to $45 and go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. For more information, go to statetheatreportland.com.

As many as six outdoor shows could be held at Thompson’s Point this summer, State Theatre management has said. The Primus show is the second to be announced. The first was a June 28 show by singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson.

Also Monday, Bangor-based Waterfront Concerts announced that country music star Gary Allan will perform May 29 on the Maine State Pier in Portland. Tickets are $22.75 to $59.75 and go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. For more information, go to waterfrontconcerts.com.

The concert by Allan is the 14th to be announced for the pier this summer. Last year Waterfront Concerts held four concerts at the pier.
