“Shark Tank,” the reality TV series that puts budding entrepreneurs in front of a group of tycoons to ask for money, is coming to Maine.

The series, which airs Friday nights on ABC, is holding an open call in Portland this summer.

According to the show’s website, only the first 500 applicants in Portland will be admitted. Applicants will have one minute to pitch their business to a member of the casting team.

The website says the casting team will be in Portland in July or August.

The show features famous investors – real estate magnate Barbara Corcoran, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, FUBU clothing founder Daymond John, venture capitalist Kevin O’Leary, QVC queen Lori Grenier and technology innovator Robert Herjavec – who consider pitches from startup entrepreneurs and then decide whether to invest in them.

In 2012, Scarborough natives and cousins Sabin Lomac and Jim Tselikis received $55,000 from Corcoran for their Cousins Maine Lobster food truck business, which is now a national franchise with 10 locations.
