Aha! moments at PechaKucha Night

What has roller skates, artists, a farmer, a sailor, a furniture maker and a graffiti-inspired nutrition educator? The PechaKucha Night of Midcoast Maine, set for 7 p.m. Friday at the auditorium at 24 Lincoln St.

An evening of lightning-fast presentations, visual storytelling and aha! moments is planned. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $5 at the door, and people are encouraged to arrive early to get a seat.

Library services forum set for seniors

The South Portland/Cape Elizabeth TRIAD will sponsor a Senior Forum from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday at the Cape Elizabeth Town Hall, 320 Ocean House Road.

Bird-watching adventures on tap

The public is invited to attend a series of free bird-watching adventures sponsored by five conservation organizations in the midcoast during April and May.

The first of seven sessions, planned for 8 a.m. Saturday, features a walk through the Kennebec Estuary Land Trust’s Sewall Woods Preserve led by Merrymeeting Audubon’s Ted Allen.

Participants will meet at 7:30 a.m. at the CVS in Bath to carpool. The group will hike along Whiskeag Creek to look for migrating waterfowl including Canada geese, black ducks, mallards, blue- and green-winged teal and common mergansers.

Dance will benefit historical society

The Waterborough Historical Society will host a performance by the classic rock dance band Spectrum from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday at the Grange Hall, 31 West Road.

Tickets are $15, the event is BYOB and no one under 21 will be admitted. Setup and snacks will be available.

Science Café to demonstrate ‘Cool Tools’

“Cool Tools” will be the topic of the monthly Science Café, to be held Thursday at the Portland Public Library, 5 Monument Square.

For this session, organizers from the Maine Tool Library will demonstrate a few of the tools available to borrow.

The inventory at the MTL includes a wide range of kitchen tools such as dehydrators, cider presses and canning supplies, power and hand tools including drills, saws, compressors and a pressure washer, and garden tools such as rakes, spades, blowers and hedge trimmers.
