Did you enjoy the weather yesterday? If you didn’t think yesterday was a flawless April day, I’m not sure how much better it could have been this time of the year.

Porltand reached a high of 68F for one of the warmest days since last fall. It was even more impressive when you think about the fact it was 29F to start the day!

The snow is mostly gone, although I do have a patch of it still against the fence. It measured about 6 inches deep yesterday and has fallen to 3 inches this morning. I expect it to be gone by the end of the day.

With abundant sunshine temperatures will again top out in the 60s to near 70F this afternoon. All good things end, and our recent stretch of wonderful weather is also going to come to a brief end starting today and culminating with some showers on Tuesday.

The satellite photo indicates there are already high clouds showing up to our west and this means the clear skies of yesterday will turn a milky white today. The clouds won’t yield any precipitation however, just keep the sun from being quiet as strong.

It is opening day at Fenway park. There have been opening days in the recent past when a cold rain have postponed the first game, but no such thing will happen today. Temperatures at game time will be in the 60s with a breeze blowing towards the outfield aiding in the chances of seeing a homer.

Sun protection is important this time of the year. The ultraviolet rays of the sun are equal to late August. If you can get burned before Labor Day, you can certainly get sunburn this time of year.

A frontal system, now in the Midwest, will press east tonight and bring showers to the area for Tuesday. Most of the showers will occur in the morning. Rainfall shouldn’t exceed a quarter of an inch. The morning commute will become slower than usual, a result of the wet roads.

I do expect clearing for the afternoon and the streets will be dry for the ride home.

Even better weather returns for the middle of the week with more sunshine and seasonable temperatures. Another period of showers could affect the area at the end of the week.
