The Charles Danforth Gallery at the University of Maine at Augusta is featuring the juried work of UMA students in the 2015 Annual Juried Student Art Show through May 1.

There will be a reception and awards ceremony from 3 to 5 p.m. on April 26 at the gallery, located in Jewett Hall on the UMA campus.

Visitors to the show will see a variety of work, including photography, printmaking, painting, drawing, sculpture, electronic arts, graphic novel and mixed media. The pieces were completed by students to fulfill class assignments throughout the year.

More than 30 students will have their work in the exhibit. Honorary jurors Deborah Fahy and Matt LeClair selected final pieces to reflect a broad range of media and topics while showcasing students at all stages of their academic development. The jurors focused on work that was carefully crafted, thoughtfully developed and designed, and pieces that provoked a dialogue.

UMA’s art program offers a bachelor’s degree in studio art with concentrations in drawing, painting, sculpture, graphic design, printmaking, electronic arts and photography.

The Danforth Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. For more information, go to artsuma.com.
