YORK — Cam Guarino pitched a three-hit shutout as the Falmouth baseball team won its season opener, beating York 4-0 on Monday afternoon.

Connor MacDowell gave the Yachtsmen a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when he led off with a single and scored on a passed ball with two outs.

Falmouth then took advantage of two York (1-1) errors and scored three runs with two outs in the fifth inning to seal the win.

TRAIP ACADEMY 19, WAYNFLETE 1: Colin Macomber hit a double and a single and drove in four runs as the Rangers (1-1) beat the Flyers (0-2) in five innings at Kittery.

Trevor Salema, Macomber and Coleman Pelkey combined on a three-hitter with eight strikeouts for the Rangers.

Josh Schneier added a double and two RBI for Traip, which scored nine times in the first inning.

SACOPEE VALLEY 10, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 0: Brandon Burnell allowed two hits, struck out nine and didn’t allow a run in five innings as the Hawks (2-0) beat the Seagulls (1-1) at South Hiram.

Craig Dunnells had a double, a single, two RBI and two runs scored for Sacopee Valley, which had 14 hits. D.J. Shea had a two-run single in the fifth as the Hawks scored six times to end the game.

Evan O’Donnell had two singles for Old Orchard Beach.

OXFORD HILLS 5, BRUNSWICK 2: Jacob Spinhirn went 2 for 3 with one run scored for the Vikings (2-1), who scored three times in the first inning and held off the Dragons (2-1) at South Paris.

John Parker had a pair of hits for Brunswick, which scored twice in the third inning to cut the deficit to 3-2.

FREEPORT 6, WELLS 1: Jack Davenport pitched a complete-game four hitter, and also hit a three-run homer to lead Freeport (1-0) past the Warriors (1-1) at Wells.

Davenport struck out five and didn’t walk a batter. He added a single, a double and a home run.

Charlie Bell had a single and a double for Wells.

GREELY 6, KENNEBUNK 4: Miles Shields drove in three runs as the Rangers (2-0) beat the Rams (2-1) in Kennebunk.

Jack Lapham had a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth as Kennebunk got within two, but Justin Leeman hit a two-run single in the top of the seventh to seal the win for Greely.

Ben Lary added a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh for Kennebunk.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 11, LAKE REGION 1: The Patriots (2-0) took advantage of walks, errors and an RBI single by Travis Wood in the first inning to open up a 6-0 lead and beat the Lakers (0-1) at Gray.

Tyler St. Pierre allowed three hits for the Patriots. Thomas had three singles, while J.T. Magno hit an RBI single in the fifth as the Patriots ended it. Jordan Williams had a single and a double for the Lakers.

OCEANSIDE 18, MT. VIEW 3: Thomas Curtis had three hits and drove in four runs for the Mariners (1-2) as they cruised past the Mustangs (0-2) in six innings at Thorndike.

Zach Roman and Jimmy Strong also had three hits apiece for Oceanside, which scored nine runs in the fourth inning and added seven more in the sixth.

Caleb Jacob allowed five hits on the mound and had two hits at the plate for the Mariners.

POLAND 6, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 3: Isaiah Dubois hit a pair of doubles, drove in two runs and stole two bases to lift the Knights (1-3) to a win over the Raiders (0-2) at Poland.

Patrick Kuklinski added two hits and two runs scored, and Ethan Caillier had a pair of hits and scored once for the Knights.

Fryeburg took a 3-0 lead on a three-run double by Nicholis L’Heureux-Carland.

MESSALONSKEE 17, MT. ARARAT 0: Josh Joy didn’t allow a hit, walked three and struck out seven as Messalonskee (3-0) beat Mt. Ararat (0-3) in a game shortened to five innings in Topsham.
