BIDDEFORD — Lexi Michaud scored five goals, including the winner with 1:30 remaining Tuesday to give Portland a 9-8 victory against Biddeford in a schoolgirl lacrosse opener.
Leading 5-4 at halftime, Portland scored three goals early in the second half. Biddeford responded with a 4-0 run over the next 20 minutes to make it 8-8.
Taylor Turgeron scored four goals for the Tigers.
WAYNFLETE 9, CHEVERUS 6: Nina Moore scored three goals to lead Waynflete (2-0) over visiting Cheverus (0-1) at Portland.
Isabel Canning added two goals for the Flyers, who led 6-4 at halftime. Anne Veroneau scored twice for the Stags.
OCEANSIDE 11, ERSKINE ACADEMY 1: Morgan Jeane scored for Erskine in a loss at South China to open the season.
Mallorie Weaver had 10 saves for Erskine.
Jillian Brooks and Abby Lacasse each scored three goals for Oceanside.
MARSHWOOD 17, MCAULEY 5: Korinne Bohunsky had six goals and two assists, and Lindsey Poirier added three goals and five assists for the Hawks in an opener at Portland.
Amanda Spink scored three goals for McAuley.
SOUTH PORTLAND 8, BONNY EAGLE 6: Mary Cronin scored five goals to help South Portland win an opener at Standish.
Bonny Eagle led 4-3 at halftime before the Riots took the lead eight minutes into the second half on a goal from Cronin. Hannah Litis led the Scots with two goals.
MT. ARARAT 16, DEERING 11: Erin Tome scored eight goals and Rebecca Schuman added four as the Eagles won an opener at Topsham.
Emily Krabbe and Micary Verville scored five goals apiece for Deering.
SOFTBALL
NOBLE 9, MARSHWOOD 5: Melodie Bailey delivered a three-run homer in the first inning and Noble (2-1) went on to defeat Marshwood (1-1) at North Berwick.
The Knight added three runs in the fifth to make it 8-0: Bailey and Morgan Perrillo scored on passed balls before Casey Poligni homered.
MORSE 11, BELFAST 7: Marissa Parks struck out seven and had a double to lead Morse (1-1) over Belfast (0-1) at Bath.
Sara Graves had two doubles, and Leia Graves singled and tripled for the Shipbuilders.
LAKE REGION 11, WELLS 4: Kaylyn Lorrain went 4 for 4 with two runs and an RBI for the Lakers (1-0), who totaled eight runs over the final three innings to break a 3-3 tie and beat the Warriors (1-1) at Wells.
Ashley Clark allowed nine hits with six strikeouts and three walks for Lake Region.
Maddie Taylor went 4 for 4 with two runs for the Warriors.
ERSKINE ACADEMY 4, MEDOMAK VALLEY 3: Avery Bond had two singles to lead the Eagles (2-0) to a victory against Medomak Valley (1-2) at Waldoboro.
Mallory Chamberlain earned the win, allowing three singles. Taylor McLaggan had a double for Erskine.
GARDINER 12, MARANACOOK 0: Kristal Smith had a home run and three RBI, and also tossed a one-hitter as the Tigers (3-0) downed the Black Bears (2-1) at Gardiner.
Lauren Chadwick added a double, two singles and an RBI for Gardiner.
Bri Brochu chipped in with three singles, and Mikayla Shaw added two singles and two RBI for the Tigers.
Leah Pouliot had the lone hit for the Black Bears.
BANGOR 2, CONY 1: Arika Brochu smacked her first home run of the season for Cony (1-2) in a loss to Bangor (3-0) at Augusta.
Brochu struck out six and walked two for Cony. Sydney Cheever added a double.
Skyler Cassum struck out 14 to earn the win for Bangor (3-0).
