Dan Guiliani, South Portland, track: Guiliani threw the shot put 65 feet, 6 inches in a meet at South Portland, eclipsing the all-time Maine best of 60-6¼ by Thornton Academy’s Dan Smith in 2008. It’s the fourth-best mark in the country this year. Guiliani also won the discus (153-4).

HONORABLE MENTION

Jack Davenport, Freeport, baseball: Davenport pitched a four-hitter and hit a three-run homer in a 6-1 win over Wells. He struck out five and didn’t walk a batter. He also had a single and double.

Henry Curran, South Portland: Curran, a left-hander, pitched a one-hitter and struck out 12 in six innings. He struck out the first five batters he faced.

Sam Wogan, Freeport, lacrosse: The senior had four goals, including an unassisted goal in the third overtime, and two assists to lead the Falcons to their first win, beating Fryeburg Academy.

GIRLS

Jen Jones, Sanford, softball: Jones pitched a perfect game and struck out 20 in a 10-0 win over Westbrook. Jones didn’t allow a ball in play until the seventh inning. She also went 2 for 4 with a pair of RBI. Three days later, Jones pitched a three-hitter and struck out 13 in a 2-1 win over Biddeford.

HONORABLE MENTION

Nicole Bennett, Fryeburg Academy: Bennett threw a no-hitter with eight strikeouts and one walk in a 23-0 win over Traip Academy. She also hit two homers and went 4 for 4.

Alyssa Coyne, Greely, track: At an April 21 meet at Falmouth, the Class B indoor shot put state champion dominated the fields events, capturing the discus (106-4), the javelin (86-7) and pole vault (8-6), and took second in the shot put (38-0).

Erin Tome, Mt. Ararat, lacrosse: Tome scored eight goals to lead the Eagles to a season-opening victory over Deering, 16-11.
