PLAISTOW, N.H. — Railroad officials say a pedestrian has been struck and killed by an Amtrak Downeaster train in Plaistow, New Hampshire.

Patricia Quinn, executive director of the Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority, said the accident occurred at 2:53 p.m. Friday.

Quinn said no passengers on the train – number 684 – were injured, but the Boston-bound train would be significantly delayed.

Amtrak said that its northbound trains were running about an hour to 90 minutes late. It said two trains – the 685, which leaves Boston at 5 p.m. and was due in at Brunswick at 8:30 p.m., and the 687, which leaves Boston at 6:05 p.m. and was due in Portland at 8:45 p.m. – were combined for Friday night.

Quinn said she had no information on whether the person who was struck was male or female.
