Cool marine air greeted us this morning with temperatures in the 40s to lower 50s and a touch of drizzle. We are going to see some rapid changes over the next 12 hours with a burst of warm air followed by cooler Canadian air for the weekend.

This morning a warm front is moving northward at the same time the remnants of Ana pass out to see south of Nantucket. I really was hoping the upper level pattern would have been different enough to bring this moisture further north and help alleviate what is quickly turning into a spring drought. While there have been some limited showers, we are still overall significantly dry.

Interestingly, the records at the Portland Jetport don’t show the drought conditions so well as the few showers we have seen in the region have gone through this area.

The temperature map for early afternoon gives a good idea how quickly it’s going to warm up after 11AM. Inland areas of York County will easily reach the low 80s, while along the coastline 70s will be more commonplace. Humidity levels will also increase. You’ll have to decide if it’s too much or not.

A cold front will bring a renewed chance for showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Some of these storms might reach strong levels, but not everyone will see them. The image below gives a good idea who is at the highest risk for these types of showers.

Cooler and drier air makes its way back through the region tonight. The next map shows what temperatures to which you will awaken on Wednesday. The wind will become quite brisk tomorrow and this means high levels of pollen once again.

Dry and seasonably mild weather continues through the rest of the work-week. I don’t see much chance of rain in the next 7 day, but if we are going to receive any, it will be Saturday.

This is prom and graduation season and I know weather is important for many of you. Sunday looks dry and mild to warm with temperatures reaching back into the lower 70s. The exact time of sunset is different for each area, but generally we all will start enjoying 8pm or later sunsets this weekend through early August.

The further north and west you live, the later the sunset will occur. If you live further east and north, you get to enjoy the earliest sunrises.

Have a great Tuesday.
