The University of Maine clinched a berth in the America East Conference tournament with a sweep of the University of Albany on Friday at Albany, New York.

Maine improved to 24-25, 10-9 AE, while Albany dipped to 13-28, 6-13.

Maine will be the third seed and play second-seeded Maryland-Baltimore County in the first round of the four-team, double-elimination conference tourney on Thursday.

The Black Bears won the opener 4-1, scoring all of their runs in the seventh inning.

Justin Courtney (5-5) allowed five hits and an unearned run in six innings, and Logan Fullmer pitched the final three for the save.

Jake Osborne had three hits and Scott Heath, Charlie Butler and Fuller held the Great Danes to four hits for a 3-1 win in the second game.

Sam Balzano, Christian Garabedian and Jonathan Salcedo drove in a run, and Alex Cabrera and Garabedian had two hits.

Heath pitched five innings, while Butler and Fullmer each went an inning with Fullmer earning his fourth save.

Maine and Albany will play a regular-season finale on Saturday at noon.
