YORK — Sam Johnson drove in the go-ahead run with a fifth-inning single Wednesday and York went on to a 2-1 victory against Wells in a Western Maine Conference baseball game.

Chris Neilson walked, advanced to second on a single by Cole Merritt, then scored on Johnson’s single.

Dan Bock pitched a three-hitter with two walks and six strikeouts for the Wildcats (10-2). Cody Cousins of Wells (7-5) scattered seven hits with three walks and one strikeout.

GREELY 3, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 1: Chaz Reade had an RBI single in the first inning and a two-run single in the third as Greely (10-2) downed Gray-New Gloucester (5-6) at Cumberland.

Will Bryant pitched a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts and two walks for the win.

TRAIP ACADEMY 8, WAYNFLETE 4: Josh Schneier, Alex Foye and Colin Macomber led off the fifth inning of a 4-4 game with consecutive doubles, Macomber eventually scored on a fielder’s choice and the Rangers (8-3) had a 7-4 lead against Waynflete (3-10) at Kittery.

Schneier and Macomber finished with three hits each, and Foye a pair of doubles. Peterson Silke had two hits for Waynflete.

KENNEBUNK 11, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 0: Kip Richard lined a two-run double to cap a seven-run fifth inning that ended the game as the Rams (8-5) handled the Raiders (2-10) in five innings at Kennebunk.

Richard finished with a pair of doubles.

Jake Mastrangelo picked up the shutout win, allowing one hit, striking out three and walking one.

CAPE ELIZABETH 15, POLAND 4: Cape Elizabeth (8-4) hammered four home runs to down the Knights (3-10) in six innings at Poland.

Matt Dennison had three hits, including two homers, and finished with seven RBI. Brendan Tinsman drove in three runs on a single, double and homer, and Dylan Roberts chipped in with a solo homer.

Nate Ingalls was 4 for 4, scoring three times and knocking in two for the Capers.

SOUTH PORTLAND 12, SANFORD 0: Brad Sowerby had a two-run single in a six-run fourth as the Red Riots (9-1) beat the Spartans (0-10) in five innings at South Portland.

Matt Beecher and Anthony Degifico each had a double and single for South Portland, and Nick Troiano and Jacob Brown each added a pair of singles.

Sowerby allowed three singles, striking out four and walking two.

MESSALONSKEE 3, BRUNSWICK 2: Ben Frazee had an RBI triple and Jonathan Wilkie added an RBI single to lead the Eagles (10-2) over Brunswick (6-6) at Oakland.

Wilkie finished with two RBI. Nick Mayo struck out six in six innings to earn the victory.

LACROSSE

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 12, ST. DOMINIC 4: Ryan Caracciolo scored five goals, all in the second half, to rally Fryeburg Academy (4-5) past St. Dominic (5-5) at Auburn.

After a 3-3 halftime tie, the Raiders held St. Dom’s to one goal in the second half, none in the fourth quarter.

Corey Thibodeau scored twice in the fourth for Fryeburg.

PORTLAND 15, BONNY EAGLE 6: D.J. Cooper had five goals and an assist for the Bulldogs (4-4), who took a 6-4 halftime lead and pulled away from the Scots (3-4) at Portland.

David Menard and Robert Nolan each had two goals and two assists for Portland, and Drake McGee also had two goals.

Six players scored for Bonny Eagle.

Andrew Hoekstra stopped 16 shots for the Bulldogs.
