A midcoast man was arrested Thursday night after a brief chase that ended in a crash on Route 1 near the Exit 15 ramp for Interstate 295.

A Yarmouth police officer attempted to stop a Chrysler Sebring, which crashed into some trees between the ramp and the Yarmouth Green condominium complex.

The passenger was taken to a hospital with injuries but the driver ran off, police said.

Police from Cumberland, Falmouth and Freeport along with the latter’s police dog set up a perimeter around the area. Police found Dale Havens, 35, of Brunswick and Boothbay Harbor, hiding in a parked car, police said.

Havens was charged with eluding an officer, violating bail conditions from a previous arrest and three counts of failure to pay a fine. He is being held at the Cumberland County Jail in Portland without bail.
