Bowdoin College awarded bachelor of arts degrees to 473 students at its commencement ceremony Saturday on the Brunswick campus.

The students in the 2015 graduating class came from 36 states, the District of Columbia and 18 other countries and territories.

President Barry Mills, who gave the last commencement address of his 14-year tenure, spoke about the importance of leadership.

“There are two critical components of leadership among all the others you have learned and adopted at Bowdoin: a sense of humility and a sense of humor,” said Mills.

Among the 53 Maine graduates was Jacques Larochelle, the last of six brothers to graduate from Bowdoin. His parents are Carolyn and Jacques Larochelle of Bangor.

Commencement addresses were delivered by graduating seniors, a Bowdoin tradition.
