A Limington woman was killed and three other people were injured in a one-vehicle crash early Saturday morning on Whaleback Road in the York County town.

Brandy Norton, 23, died when the pickup truck she was riding in struck a guard rail and culvert and then crashed into some trees, rolled over and caught on fire around 3:45 a.m., according to York County Sheriff William King.

The driver, Kyle Harmon, 20, of Windham, and a passenger were trapped in the truck, King said in a news release. The two other passengers appeared to have been ejected.

A nearby homeowner, E.J. Cabading of 42 Whaleback Road, heard the crash and was able to put out the fire before firefighters arrived, King said.

He said Norton was pronounced dead at the scene and Harmon was hospitalized in critical condition at Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he remained Saturday evening.

Passengers Patrick Cheney, 23 of Buxton, and Alexis Jongerden, age unknown, of Limington were in stable condition at Maine Medical Center.

King said the truck appears to have been traveling too fast for the foggy conditions.

Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
