WATERVILLE — Two-time girls’ state champion Olivia Leavitt of Falmouth cruised into the semifinals of the state singles tennis tournament Saturday at Colby College as the top four seeds advanced without losing a set in both the boys’ and girls’ draws.

Leavitt, the No. 1 seed, dropped a total of only two games while defeating Brewer’s Claire Valley and North Yarmouth Academy’s Lena Rich. Leavitt will face Falmouth teammate and No. 4 seed Julia Brogan in the semifinals for the second year in a row.

The other girls’ semifinal will be No. 2 seed Bethany Hammond of St. Dom’s against No. 3 Rosemary Campanella of Wells.

The boys’ semifinal matchups are No. 1 Nick Mathieu of Mt. Ararat against No. 4 Teodor Antelj of Fryeburg Academy and No. 2 Isaac Salas of Waynflete against No. 3 Luke Stevic of Lee Academy.

Semifinal matches are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Monday at Bates College, with the finals to follow at 1:30 p.m.

BASEBALL

MARSHWOOD 9, THORNTON ACADEMY 4: Luke Stankovich’s three-run homer to right-center keyed a five-run fifth inning for Marshwood (11-4) in a win over the Trojans (10-5) in Saco.

Stankovich also hit a triple, and Zach Doyon drove home two runs for the Hawks. Zach Hodges, Cole McDaniel and Ryan O’Neil added two hits apiece.

Zach Ham, Evan Balzano, Brandon Hall and Ben Lambert each had two hits for Thornton.

SOUTH PORTLAND 2, MASSABESIC 0: Sam Troiano tripled home the only two runs of the game and also pitched a four-hitter to carry the Red Riots (12-3) over the Mustangs (4-12) in South Portland.

Remington Gaetjens kept the game close with four innings of no-hit relief and also had two of Massabesic’s four singles.

WINDHAM 13, CHEVERUS 3: Timmy Greenlaw drove in three runs with three of Windham’s 16 hits as the Eagles (8-7) beat the Stags (9-6) in Portland.

Windham snapped a 3-3 tie in the third inning when Josh Dugas singled home Tyler Johnson and Tanner Laberge.

The Eagles added a run in the fifth before putting the game away with seven runs over the final two innings.

WESTBROOK 9, NOBLE 3: Corey Walker went 3 for 3 with a pair of RBI, and Pat Weimer had two hits and drove in three runs for the Blue Blazes (6-9) against the Knights (0-15) at Westbrook.

Weimer also pitched a complete game, allowing five hits while striking out four and walking one.

SACOPEE VALLEY 10, RICHMOND 0: Devin Day had a pair of hits and scored two runs for the Hawks (14-1), who used a six-run third inning to pull away from the Bobcats (13-3) for a five-inning win at Hiram.

Brady Anderson added a triple and two sacrifice flies. Sacopee pitcher Brandon Burnell struck out seven and walked one while throwing a four-hitter.

SOFTBALL

BONNY EAGLE 10, PORTLAND 2: Journey Barnes only allowed only two hits while pitching the Scots (4-11) past the Bulldogs (4-11) in Portland.

Caitlyn Dyer had a double and a triple for the Scots, and Breanna Lifland hit two doubles.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

FALMOUTH 16, KENNEBUNK 4: Bryce Kuhn scored eight goals, and Jack Scribner collected one goal and five assists to lead the Yachtsmen (8-3) past the Rams (6-5) at Falmouth.

Kyle Mooney tallied three goals for Kennebunk.

WAYNFLETE 14, YORK 4: Harry Baker-Connick scored four goals and Joe Connors added three for the Flyers (8-3) against the Wildcats (3-8) at Portland.

Cooper Chap and Ford Malter each added two goals and two assists.

York was led by Tucker Fegan, who scored two goals and assisted on another.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

MARSHWOOD 12, CAPE ELIZABETH 5: Lindsay Poirier collected six goals and two assists, and Korinne Bohunsky scored four goals for the Hawks (9-3) as they downed the Capers (7-4) at South Berwick.

Cape Elizabeth got two goals each from Mariah Deschino and Emma Landes.

MT. ARARAT 13, CONY 1: Erin Tome and Rebecca Schuman scored three goals apiece, and Alison Nolan added two goals for the Eagles (10-1) as they cruised to a win over the Rams (0-10) at Topsham.

PORTLAND 12, BONNY EAGLE 10: Ellis Linsmith scored the go-ahead goal with three minutes remaining to lift the Bulldogs (6-5) over the Scots (3-8) at Standish.

Merritt Ryan led the Bulldogs with six goals. Linsmith finished with three goals.

Bonny Eagle got two goals each from Alexis Lambert, Carly Biegel, Autumn Brady and Catherine Biegel.

CHEVERUS 17, DEERING 5: Anne Veroneau scored five goals and Allie Scott added three as Cheverus (4-7) won at Deering (2-9).

Emily Krabbe scored twice for Deering.

FRIDAY’S BASEBALL GAMES

PORTLAND 12, DEERING 4: Ryan Ruhlin, George Chaison-Lapine and Jake Knop each had three hits and drove in two runs to pace a 15-hit attack for the Bulldogs (10-4) in a win over the Rams (9-6) at Hadlock Field.

GORHAM 8, WESTBROOK 7: Center fielder Gerek Brown threw out the potential tying run at the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Rams (6-8) held off the Blue Blazes (5-9) at Westbrook.
