NEW LIMERICK — A man is facing several charges, including aggravated assault, after Maine State Police said he attacked and injured three people at a home in New Limerick on Sunday morning.

A press release posted on the state police Facebook page by Troop F in Houlton identified the suspect as Dustin Smith; his age and address were not available. New Limerick is a town in Aroostook County.

Police said Smith fled the home before state police arrived around 10 a.m. He was located a short distance away after police came across a vehicle they say he had stolen. Smith crashed the car on Station Road in New Limerick. When state police discovered the wreck, they found Smith pinned under the vehicle.

Smith was taken to Houlton Regional Hospital before being transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where he was listed in fair condition Sunday night. The three people he allegedly assaulted were all admitted to the Houlton hospital.

State police say Smith will face multiple charges, including aggravated assault and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
