A dump truck slid into the water at Knight Marine boatyard in Rockland on Wednesday morning after its brakes failed.

According to Rockland police, the driver was trying to turn around in the parking area next to the water and went down the embankment and into the water when the brakes failed. No one was hurt in the incident, and police said it was not reportable because the truck is operated only on the Knight Marine property. No charges were filed.

A Rockland Fire Department official said firefighters spread a boom around the truck to contain a small amount of fuel that was leaking and absorbent pads were being spread to soak up the fuel, the official said.

A crane company had been contacted to pull the truck out of the water, police said, but they weren’t sure if it had been removed by late afternoon.
