SACO — Kaylee Burns ended the game with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh inning Wednesday to lift Thornton Academy to a 5-4 victory against Biddeford in an SMAA softball game.

Bailey Tremblay of Thornton (14-2) struck out two, allowed eight hits and walked none. Kirsten Lebreux of Biddeford (13-3) struck out seven and gave up seven hits.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 8, FREEPORT 0: Hannah Dixon singled home Alison Martell and Sara Carder in the first inning, and Gray-New Gloucester (11-5) went on to defeat the Falcons (2-14) at Freeport.

Dixon and Maria Valente finished with three RBI, Skye Conley had four hits and Valente three for the Patriots. Martell struck out seven for Gray-New Gloucester, yielding two of Freeport’s five hits to Elizabeth Wiest.

FALMOUTH 4, POLAND 2: Julie Treadwell struck out 13 with one walk and one earned run to lead the Yachtsmen (11-5) over Poland (9-7) at Falmouth.

Shannon Birks drove in Falmouth’s first run with a single in the third inning. Two batters later, Elizabeth Walker hit a two-run homer. Treadwell singled in Walker in the sixth.

Kylie Martin of Poland struck out six, walked two and gave up two hits in six innings.

SCARBOROUGH 12, PORTLAND 0: Sophia Burnham gave up two hits and struck out six as the Red Storm (16-0) shut out Portland (4-12) in five innings at Scarborough.

Scarborough sent 17 batters to the plate in the first inning, and scored 11 runs on eight hits and four errors.

NOBLE 9, WESTBROOK 0: Kasey Poligni hit a three-run homer in the first inning and Noble (10-6) went on to defeat Westbrook (4-12) at North Berwick.

Morgan Perillo added a three-run double in the third and Shaughnessey Gower pitched a five-hit shutout, striking out five and walking four.

YORK 5, WELLS 0: Stephanie Rundlett pitched a three-hitter with 12 strikeouts, and also had three hits, including a three-run homer, for the Wildcats (15-1) against the Warriors (4-12) at Wells.

Rundlett, who walked one, helped end the only real threat by Wells when she tagged out a runner trying to advance home following a passed ball in the third inning.

Sequoia Fister and Ashlee Ortstadt each hit a double for York.

GREELY 9, CAPE ELIZABETH 5: Miranda Moore singled and doubled during an eight-run sixth inning as Greely (13-3) defeated Cape Elizabeth (8-8) at Cumberland.

Moore also allowed six hits.

Megan Nicholson had four hits and three RBI for Cape.

SANFORD 11, WINDHAM 1: Jen Jones struck out 15 as the Spartans (14-2) downed Windham (9-7) at Sanford.

Jones, with two hits, also drove in three runs and scored once. Nicole Main had two doubles among her three hits, with two RBI and three runs.

LACROSSE

CHEVERUS 16, MCAULEY 7: Abigail Biegel scored four goals with two assists to lead visiting Cheverus (5-7) over the Lions (5-6) at Portland.

Carly Farber added three goals and Hope Correia had 14 saves for the Stags. Amanda Spink led McAuley with three goals.

GREELY 12, LAKE REGION 9: Meghan O’Donovan and Kelsey Otley scored three goals apiece, and Otley also had one assist to lead the Rangers (4-7) over the Lakers (9-2) at Cumberland.

Katherine Leggat-Barr added two goals and one assist, and Courtney Sullivan collected four assists for the Rangers.

Lauren Jakobs had three goals and one assist, and Lindsey Keenen added two goals and three assists for Lake Region.

SOUTH PORTLAND 21, NOBLE 3: Kayla Brown collected three goals and one assist, and Aimee LaPlante scored three goals for the Red Riots (8-4) against the Knights (2-10) at South Portland.

Abby Letourneau, Maddie Hasson and Kaya Backman added two goals apiece for South Portland. Letourneau also had three assists and Hasson collected two assists.

Noble got a pair of goals from Eleanor Mallett and Megan Bataran scored once for the Knights.

YORK 17, WELLS 0: MacKenzie Mallett had four goals and one assist, and Allie Lawlor added three goals and one assist for the Wildcats (8-3) against the Warriors (1-11) at York.

York also got two goals and three assists apiece from Kara Kelly and Malory Connolly.

MASSABESIC 12, GORHAM 11: Delia Sylvain’s pass from behind the net bounced off the goalie and into the net to give Massabesic (10-2) an overtime victory against the Rams (7-5) at Gorham.

Maquila Dimastrantonio scored five goals and Sylvain three for the Mustangs. Aliza Jordan led Gorham with four goals.

MORSE 11, OCEANSIDE 10: Morse (8-4) scored five unanswered goals in the fourth quarter to upset Oceanside (10-2) at Bath.

Oceanside led 10-6 after three, but the Shipbuilders rallied and with three minutes left, Maddy Olsen tied it. Paige Daigle provided the winner with 58 seconds left.

Sophie Sreden led Morse with three goals. Daigle, Noa Sreden and Emma Rosetti all finished with two.

Brittany Rytky, Alexis Pine and Kelsey Brooks scored twice each for Oceanside.

MT. ARARAT 13, EDWARD LITTLE 7: Katie Labbay and Rebecca Schuman led the Eagles (11-1) with three goals apiece against the Red Eddies (3-9) at Topsham.

FALMOUTH 9, CAPE ELIZABETH 6: Sydney Bell scored five goals and Leigh Bernardy added two as Falmouth (11-1) beat the Capers (7-5) at Cape Elizabeth.

Lindsay Stewart scored twice for Cape.
