Showers and thunderstorms continue across parts of western New England overnight and some of these may make it to the coast of Maine by the early morning hours of Tuesday. These showers mark the leading edge of warmer and more humid air which will finally be replacing the chilly temperatures we have seen during much of the first week of June.

Here’s a breakdown of the weather over the next several days. Perhaps you are already on an early summer vacation. If this is the case, Tuesday and Saturday are the least favorable days for outdoor activities, but neither appears to be a washout at this time.

Tuesday June 9th 2015
Humidity will come back with a bite on Tuesday along with a period of showers. The most likely time for rain will be during the mid-afternoon hours, but showers can occur anytime. This means although there could be some sunny breaks, plan on taking the umbrella as you Highs get well into the 70s, but it feels warmer with the humidity. I’ll likely end up with the air conditioning on for Tuesday night because the air will stay sticky well into the evening.

Here’s a warm and sunny day with highs into the lower 80s for many. East of Rockland will be cooler, but even there the weather will be good for heading to the beach. Low tide this week will occur around noon. It will be a few hours before early in the week and then a few hours after later in the week. This puts high tide just after sunrise and just before sunset.

Thursday June 11th 2015
Another good day, but as a cold front passes the area I think we could see a quick shower. It remains warm and noticeable levels of humidity. Highs will be in the mid-80s.

Friday June 12th 2015
More sunshine and warm air continues. Thinking about the week overall, this is our warmest week since the one beginning with Memorial Day weekend and then eventually ending with the early June chill. The sunrise and sunset are both at their earliest times for the next few weeks so take advantage of the over 9 hours of daylight.

Saturday and Sunday Flag Day 2015
Presently the weekend ahead brings a mixed bag. Saturday could be unsettled with a frontal system close to the area. This means we might have a period of showers and quite a few clouds. On Sunday, sunshine and clouds return with temperatures in the 70s. The evenings look particularly nice with temperatures holding in the 60s for several hours after dark.

Possible issues
A frontal system to the south of New England could come closer than expected and spoil more of the upcoming weekend, but the trend has been to keep it moving and salvage Sunday. You can follow my forecasts here and on Twitter @growingwisdom
