AUGUSTA — Three area women were arrested and charged with burglary and assault following an altercation at a Ridge Road apartment Saturday night.

The women had a dispute with one or both of the residents of a Ridge Road apartment, allegedly getting into a physical altercation with them and entering the apartment without permission, according to Augusta Sgt. Eric Lloyd.

Arrested and charged with burglary and assault were Catherine A. Gerry, 27, of Augusta; Brittany A. Caron, 24, of Augusta; and Sarah D. Burton, 33, of Gardiner.

The suspects and victims knew each other, Lloyd said.

“There was a disturbance between (the suspects) and residents of the apartment,” Lloyd said. “They showed up and ended up getting into a physical altercation. They entered the residence without permission with the intent to commit a crime.”

Lloyd said at least one of the women climbed through a window of the apartment building.

The incident was reported to police by one of the two adult residents of the apartment.

The residents were not injured.

The three women were taken to Kennebec County jail with bail set at $1,500.
