New York Rangers forward Martin St. Louis is retiring after 16 NHL seasons, seven All Star selections and one Stanley Cup with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The 40-year-old St. Louis made the announcement Thursday, roughly a month after helping the Rangers reach the Eastern Conference finals, where they lost to the Lightning in seven games.

St. Louis had 391 goals and 642 assists in 1,134 regular season games with the Calgary Flames, Lightning and Rangers. He won the Stanley Cup with the Lightning in 2004 and was the MVP and scoring leader that season.

 Sochi Olympics shootout star T.J. Oshie was acquired by the Capitals in a deal that sent Troy Brouwer to the Blues. St. Louis also received AHL goalie Pheonix Copley and a 2016 third-round pick.

Kings defenseman Slava Voynov was sentenced to three months in jail and three years of probation after pleading no contest to beating his wife after an argument at a Halloween party last year.

Defenseman Kevin Bieksa agreed to a two-year, $8 million contract extension through 2018 with Anaheim.

Free agent right wing Erik Condra signed a three-year contract with the Lightning.

NECBL: Ben Wessel allowed a run on seven hits in 62/3 innings to help the Sanford Mainers (9-9) gain a 4-1 win over the Bay Sox (9-10) at New Bedford, Massachusetts.

NCBL: The Newburg Newts (9-9) scored three runs in the first and held on for a 3-1 win over the Surge (5-14) at Old Orchard Beach.

TWILIGHT LEAGUE: Kyle Heath poked a two-out single to right in the top of the 10th, plating Taylor Reulliard and Forrest Chadwick to lift Lenders Network (8-1) to a 4-2 win over Edge Academy (2-7) at Standish.

Owen Kimmel went 3 for 3 and scored twice to lead Aero Heating & Ventilating (7-2) to a 2-0 win over Patriot Insurance (1-8) at South Portland.

AMERICAN LEGION: Ryan Twitchell beat the throw from first on Kevin Harmer’s suicide squeeze, lifting Gray-Greely to a 4-3 victory over Libby-Mitchell at Cumberland.

Jeremy Bissonnette’s two-run triple to right keyed a go-ahead, four-run fourth inning, and Bonanza held on for a 6-4 win at Wells.

Weston Bergeron singled home Matt Allen with the winning run as Massabesic scored twice in the seventh to edge Staples Crossing 6-5 at Waterboro.

Sam Troiano had two doubles and three RBI, Brad Sowerby and Griffin Kelly combined on a two-hitter and Morrill Post rolled to a 14-1, five-inning win over OA-Yarmouth at South Portland.

Brady Crepeau hit a tiebreaking two-run double in the seventh to lift Saco-Biddeford Savings to a 5-3 win over Fayette-Staples at Saco.

Later, Crepeau and Corey Brown each hit a home run during Saco-Biddeford Savings’ 11-0, five-inning win over Noble at at Biddeford.

Cole Merritt’s two-run single in the fifth was the difference as Saco Bay PT downed Fayette Staples 3-1 at York.

Gerek Brown went 5 for 5 with five RBI to lead Moody’s Collision to a sweep of Andrews post, 4-1 and 7-4 and Portland.

JUNIOR LEGION: Michael Walls hit a three-run triple as Gorham (5-2) used a four-run sixth inning to rally past Saco-Biddeford Savings (0-9) for a 5-4 win at Biddeford.

Tanner Mann hit a three-run double in the sixth to help Gray-New Gloucester (3-6) take an 11-6 win over Oxford Hills (6-3) at New Gloucester.

Jack Casale struck out 11 and held Cape Elizabeth (1-5) to three hits in a 7-0 win for Yankee Ford (6-1) at Portland.
