With the tragedy of the Charleston shootings still raw in the minds of everyone, the gun control lobby is screaming for more gun control laws.
The U.S. currently has 22,000 gun laws on the books. Does anyone seriously think another gun law would have prevented the deaths?
One of the laws already prohibits guns in churches and other public places. To law-abiding citizens, the law means gun-free zones; to someone intent on evil, the law means free-fire zones. Nobody will be firing back.
I hesitate to use a quote loosely borrowed from the National Rifle Association. Sometimes the only way to stop a evil person with a gun is a good person with a gun.
