The York County Sheriff’s Office said deputies dealt with three crashes on Saturday afternoon – including one in which a man was critically injured.

That accident occurred shortly after noon, when a dirt bike hit a car on Route 25 at the rest stop in Limington.

Deputies said that Patrick Smith, 23, of Standish was headed west on the dirt bike in the eastbound breakdown lane of Route 25. They said Audrey Godeck, 50, of Buxton turned into the rest area and Smith’s dirt bike hit the rear of her car.

Smith was wearing a helmet but was thrown from the bike, deputies said, and was taken to Maine Medical Center in critical condition. Godeck was not hurt.

The crash is under investigation, deputies said, and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office assisted with a reconstruction of the crash.

The second incident was a motorcycle crash in Shapleigh about 1:30 p.m., the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies said Lisa Pimpare, 47, of Lyman lost control of her motorcycle and was thrown from it. They said she was wearing a helmet, but injured her leg and suffered cuts and scrapes on her legs and arms. She was taken to Goodall Hospital with injuries that were considered not to be life-threatening.

The cause was driver inexperience, deputies said.

In the third crash, Roger Scannell, 81, of Arundel went off Limerick Road in Arundel in his car and hit several mailboxes and a tree around 4:40 p.m., deputies said. He was taken to Southern Maine Health Care for treatment of cuts on his legs and chest pains.

Deputies said their preliminary finding is that driver fatigue was the cause of the crash.
