Politics aside, the recent pledge by Gov. LePage to veto all legislation, whether Democratic- or Republican-drafted, and to veto the bipartisan-produced budget, thereby potentially forcing legislators to put off their summer break, left me wondering: Where have I heard this before?
I realized today that I was recalling the delusional Capt. Queeg (played by Humphrey Bogart) in the movie “The Caine Mutiny”:
“This is the captain speaking. Some misguided sailors on this ship still think they can pull a fast one on me. Well, they’re very much mistaken. Since you’ve taken this course, the innocent will be punished with the guilty. There will be no liberty for any member of this crew for three months. I will not be made a fool of! Do you hear me?”
