The consequences that Speaker Mark Eves received are justified. Being unqualified to head a school is reason enough not to be hired.

Being the same unqualified person who opposed the type of school being considered for his leadership is another reason that Gov. LePage should withhold not just some money, but all money from the state that was slated to go to that school.

Eves is more than a little hypocritical to make a stink after he and three other leaders held secret meetings and no public hearings on the last-minute budget that was crammed through the Legislature.

His threat to sue the governor is even more interesting. We can’t wait to see the discovery covering the “national search” that ended with Eves’ selection.

Apparently there was nobody anywhere in America with the same lack of experience running a school, especially a charter one, that they actively opposed their entire political career.

Would Gov. LePage ever apply to be the manager of General Assistance in the city of Portland? Not likely, because he has integrity.
