A South Portland woman was killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday night in Westbrook.
Jennifer Lavigne, 35, was riding on the back on a motorcycle driven by Brenton Blais, 37, of Old Orchard Beach, when the crash occurred on Pride Street in Westbrook at 10:35 p.m., according to the Westbrook Police Department.
Both Lavigne and Blais where transported to the Maine Medical Center. Lavigne was pronounced dead at the hospital. Blais was in surgery Sunday morning with serious injuries, according to Westbrook police.
Maine Medical Center said Sunday night it did not have information about Blais.
The cause of the accident is under investigation. Police said neither of the crash victims was wearing a helmet and that speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.
Westbrook investigators said they are trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash to see if charges will be filed.
