Staci Creech of Bangor shot a 75 Monday to take a one-shot lead after the first round of the Maine Women’s Amateur golf tournament at Biddeford-Saco Country Club.
Ruth Colucci, playing at her home club, is in second after shooting a 76.
Four golfers are tied for third after shooting 78: Melissa Johnson of Auburn, two-time champion Emily Bouchard of Saco, junior golfer Bailey Plourde of Newcastle and Leslie Guenther of Hebron. Guenther won last year’s women’s amateur at Waterville Country Club.
The 54-hole tournament is scheduled to continue Tuesday and Wednesday.
