Woodford Street in Portland will be closed for several hours Tuesday afternoon as crews replace an electric pole damaged in a car accident.

A man driving a Ford sedan clipped the pole as he tried to take a left turn from Beacon Street onto Woodford, according to police. The man’s car overturned but he was not injured.

The car was removed from the road around 1 p.m. Crews from Central Maine Power Co. were on scene to begin replacing the pole.

The driver declined to speak to a reporter at the scene.
